Michael holds CISSP and GISP credentials and a Masters in Psychology. He is a member of ISSA (Intl. Systems Security Assn.) and FBI Infragard. He actively promotes the security awareness profession at schools and universities and he is passionate about keeping our families and businesses safe in cyberspace.
He serves on the board of Neighbors Empowering Youth ( and You) in Altadena CA which offer robotics and technology training as well as a computer giveaway program for kids in the community. After retiring, he has become a CertNexus Instructor delivering CyberSAFE training and mentoring individuals desiring to become certified and start their careers in the expanding cybersecurity field.
He is a Volunteer Secure & Safe Online speaker for ISC2 and serves on the board of the Freedom to Choose Prison Project which teaches compassionate experiential education in 5 California prisons. Having experienced a personal and profound life transformation over the past 32 years, he speaks on topics related to recovery and healing from traumatic life experiences.

In 1999, he represented at the Toastmasters International World Championship of Public Speaking. He received the DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster) designation over a decade ago, which is the highest designation awarded by Toastmasters International and has founded several clubs, coached professional and beginner speakers for over 20 years.
